Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
