Dame Helen Mirren Set to Receive Globes' Lifetime Achievement Award.

The acclaimed English actor Mirren, currently recipient of an Academy Award, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, multiple Emmy accolades, plus a Tony, is poised to earn an additional esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Ceremony Details

Dame Helen, 80, formerly given a damehood in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in the year 2014, will pick up the award during a presentation on 8 January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event occur, during a ceremony promoted by the organization as the “Golden Eve”.

This will also include the awarding of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for television achievement, the honoree for which is still to be revealed. Previous recipients were Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a force of nature, and her professional journey is truly extraordinary,” said the Golden Globes president, the Globes’ leader. “Her captivating roles and dedication to acting persistently influence countless performers and audiences alike. We are deeply honored to award her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Notable Roles

The star became well-known in the 1970s through significant parts on stage at London’s West End and with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her prominent part in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase further. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her role as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited back in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings involving the monarch and prime minister Margaret Thatcher, and for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.

Latest Works and Future Roles

• Subsequent cinematic works include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, which she narrated.
• Mirren’s turn in the streaming adaptation for The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and honors speculation is building around her performance as a terminally ill matriarch in the film by Kate Winslet initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• Next year, audiences will see Mirren as Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be declared on 8 December, featuring Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
