Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
