Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who leaped a barrier and touched the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records indicated that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Many supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another message on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the popular stage show Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
