The former Liverpool manager says coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, that means the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding what circumstances would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; No desire to be under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, however, dining out with the players talking freely, that’s nice. We won a lot of games thus frequently great spirits in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks that took the title last term. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, and the effect for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Can you substitute such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment missing him. I find it difficult to discuss about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys also. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Coping with it individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
