Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Sports Personality Award

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.

The trio have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The three contenders were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on December 18th.

The event will be televised from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the knockout stage games.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

His success continued - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it motivates more young females to get into cricket."
