Vinted Users Express Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Service Background

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
